Gamification in Hospitals

Going along with the theme of Gamification in fields with social consequences, here is a story about how Gamification is helping patients within a hospital overcome their difficulties.  Produced by Cundari, the application allows kids to express their pain and also do daily activities designed to overcome it.  Seeing as this is currently being developed for young kids with Cancer, it simply goes to show that gamification can have powerful applications beyond the juvenile traits some assign to games.

Take a look at the main article here http://bit.ly/KSl69V, and a massive hat-tip to our friends over at http://gamification.co/

  1. I think this is a great use of gamification! My best friend in Dallas had a son who passed away at age 2 from cancer. At times, it was hard to them to know exactly what kind of pain he was in. While he was too young to use this application, I think it has a great future in helping kids with cancer. I have also passed this article along to my aforementioned friend.

  2. Hey Tess,

Sorry to hear about your friend. Hopefully this application and service will be able to help others in a similar situation. While it was initially just run in Canada, given the positive results it'll likely be used elsewhere as well
